TIMERIDE Berlin

TimeRide Berlin takes guests young and old on an exciting and informative journey through time to the divided Berlin of the 1980s. Thanks to state-of-the-art virtual reality technology, visitors are immersed in history and experience a journey through time from West to East Berlin via Checkpoint Charlie. To do this, they take a seat in a replica coach and roll virtually towards the identity check at the historic border crossing. Visitors can slip into the role of different biographies and thus become contemporary witnesses of the last years of the GDR. They can choose to take on the perspective of a non-conformist border crosser from West Berlin or a critical architect or tiler from the GDR. This creates a very personal approach to the divided Berlin and its inhabitants.

On their VR tour, time travellers discover long-gone landmarks such as the Palace of the Republic, but also become observers of everyday scenes and demonstrations as well as the omnipresent presence of the Stasi. Other stations in the exhibition cast a spotlight on the completely contrasting lifestyles in West and East Berlin, bringing back to life the feeling of a bygone era.

The visit to the exhibition is perfect for families with children from the age of six and lasts around 45 minutes.
