The cradle of the stars
When the first curtain opened at the Schmidt Theatre on the Reeperbahn on 8.8.88, the doubters gave the new “weird stage” a maximum of six months – and were proven wrong: in 2023, the Schmidt celebrated its 35th birthday and is more popular and successful than ever!
The venue is the birthplace of top-class musical theatre from its own production, is considered the “cradle of the stars”, where greats such as Michael Mittermeier, Stefan Gwildis, Georgette Dee and Helge Schneider played before their big breakthrough, and still stands for the best entertainment in a uniquely plush ambience in the middle of St. Pauli.
