The Chocolate Museum is the only museum of its kind in the world that vividly presents the past and present of cocoa and chocolate. The idea for this unique place came from Hans Imhoff, a passionate chocolate manufacturer, who fulfilled his dream of a museum with a chocolate fountain.

In 1972, Hans Imhoff took over the Stollwerck factory in Cologne’s Südstadt district and discovered a treasure trove of broken machines, packaging materials and old files. This find inspired him to found the chocolate museum. After years of research and collection building, the museum opened its doors in 1993 in the old main customs office in Cologne’s Rheinauhafen and quickly became a popular landmark in the city.

The museum presents a comprehensive presentation of the history and present of cocoa and chocolate on over 4000 m². Visitors can experience the nature of cocoa in a walk-through tropical house, admire pre-Columbian exhibits and explore modern chocolate production from bean to praline.

⛲️ The highlight of the museum visit is the 3-metre-high chocolate fountain, from which 200 kg of delicious chocolate constantly gushes out. A dream come true that invites visitors to taste it and makes the experience at the Chocolate Museum unforgettable.🍫
