Welcome to the Focke Museum – Bremen’s state museum for art and cultural history.
The Focke Museum, Bremen’s state museum, conveys the history of the city and its people in a supra-regional context. Originating from collections of urban history and arts and crafts, it preserves Bremen’s material heritage and illustrates the city’s collective memory. The presentations of historical originals tell of the Hanseatic city’s struggle for state independence and of its early civic culture. The development of a city society characterised by diversity and contradictions, which continues to the present day, will be the focus of greater attention in the future. In addition to other cross-cutting themes, the history of migration will be presented across epochs.
The four historical buildings and the modern main building and opn depot are located in the middle of a spacious park. In them, the exhibition collections on the city’s history and general cultural history form a delightful interrelationship. In special exhibitions, this programme is constantly updated with themes on the city’s history, arts and crafts and design, photography and art.
